Objectives of course

NERIM's MBA is designed to build professional management capability for a fast-changing business environment. The programme focuses on:

The programme runs under the regulations and syllabus of Dibrugarh University. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Approval has been extended through 2022–2023.

Course structure and syllabus

The MBA 2 Year Full-time programme spans four semesters of six months each. Students choose two specializations from five groups offered by Dibrugarh University in the third and fourth semesters, giving graduates a cross-functional skill set valued by recruiters.

 

Project work / Summer training

Every student completes two industry projects:

  • Major Project:  two months, undertaken in Semester III
  • Minor Project: one month, undertaken in Semester IV

Project topics are finalized by the institutional guide in consultation with the host organization and the student, and a project report is submitted in triplicate to the department head by the notified deadline.

Eligibility

Candidates need a Bachelor's degree (10+2+3 pattern) from Dibrugarh University or any recognized university, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) in the pass or major subjects, as per Dibrugarh University's approved regulations.

Selection Procedure

Admission follows Dibrugarh University's prescribed process:

  1. NERIM Entrance Test (NET)200 marks covering General Awareness, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and English Language
  2. Group Discussion (GD)50 marks
  3. Personal Interview (PI)50 marks

Candidates with a valid MAT score of 500+ or 50th percentile or higher in CAT are exempt from NET, but must still appear for GD and PI.

Selection procedure

Selection of candidates shall be made as per prescribed rules of Dibrugarh University. There shall be NERIM Entrance Test (NET) of 200 marks on General Awareness, Reasoning, Numerical Ability and English Language. Apart from the Written Test, there shall be Group Discussion (GD) for 50 marks & Personal Interview (PI) for 50 marks. Candidates having valid MAT score of minimum 500, or minimum 50 percentile in CAT are exempted from the NERIM Entrance Test (NET). However, such candidates shall require to appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) for final selection.

 

Class room attendance

Students must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance in each paper to be eligible for end-semester examinations.

Promotion to next year class

Students advance to Year 2 after clearing at least 10 of the papers offered across Semester I and Semester II. Remaining first-year papers must be cleared alongside second-year exams.

Degree & Classification

Graduates receive the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Dibrugarh University:

  • 60% and above → First Class
  • 50% to below 60% → Second Class

Award of degree

Successful candidates shall be awarded the Degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA) by Dibrugarh University, Candidates securing 60% and above will be awarded First class and those securing 50% or more but less than 60% will be awarded Second class.
