NERIM COMMERCE COLLEGE

NERIM Commerce College is a constituent college of NERIM Group of Institutions under NERIM Educational Society. This college has been set up in the year 2014 and is affiliated to Gauhati University for conducting Post Graduate and Under Graduate programmes in Commerce. The NERIM Commerce College is a subsidiary campus in close proximity to the Padma Nath Sarmah Bhawan Campus and is developed exclusively for conducting classes in commerce. Examinations are held at College Campus under the direct supervision of the Gauhati University.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Four-Year Undergraduate Program (FYUGP) under Gauhati University is based on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The policy recognizes that higher education plays an extremely important role in promoting human as well as societal well-being. The policy also endeavours developing India as envisioned in its Constitution a democratic, just, socially conscious, cultured, and humane nation upholding liberty, equality, fraternity, and justice for all. NEP 2020 notes that “given the 21st-century requirements, quality higher education must aim to develop good, thoughtful, well-rounded, and creative individuals”.

The FYUGP is designed to cater to the diverse academic needs of the student and seeks to offer options of multiple entries / exits and obtain a Certificate or a Diploma or Degree with or without Major or a Degree (Honours) or a Degree (Honours) with Research at various levels as stipulated under the policy.

TheB.Com Four Year Under Graduate Program (FYUGP) equips the students with the basic understanding of the present day trade and commerce. It provides the students with the knowledge of Accounting Principles, Economic laws, methods of professional communication, information technology in business, and other aspects of trade and commerce. The course further provides the need for pursuing higher studies in branches of commerce.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

  1. To develop professional knowledge and skills in trade and commerce.
  2. To instill in students a strong sense of ethics and corporate values through understanding of commerce.
  3. To train the students with the needed skill in comprehending the efficient role of Communication strategies in Business.

AFFILIATION & APPROVAL

The Bachelor of Commerce (FYUGP) at NERIM Commerce College is conducted as per the prescribed regulations and syllabi of Gauhati University.

EVALUATION OF THEORY COMPONENT

  1. Performance of students shall be monitored throughout the Semester by adopting Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation.
  2. Internal, continuous evaluation (Formative Assessment): 40% of total marks in a paper
  3. End Semester Examination: 60% of total marks in a paper.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Any student who has passed the Higher Secondary Examination in Commerce, Science or Arts stream under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) or any other equivalent examination recognized by the Gauhati University is eligible to apply for admission into the B.Com (FYUGP) at NERIM Commerce College.

N.B.: Eligibility criteria and procedure for Admission is subject to change as and when notified from the Gauhati University.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Interested candidates shall apply by registering through the SAMARTH portal, Government of Assam, as mandated by the Gauhati University. Selection for admission into the B.Com (FYUGP) shall be made completely on the basis of Merit.

REQUIREMENT OF CLASS ROOM ATTENDANCE

A student of B.Com (FYUGP) program shall have to attend minimum 75% of total classes in each paper to be eligible to appear in each End-semester examination.

ELIGIBILITY TO SIT FOR EXAMINATIONS

75% attendance is the minimum attendance required for a student to sit for end semester examination under the B.Com(FYUGP). The examination modalities of GU-FYUGP will be as per GU’s Examination Ordinance.

            All students, irrespective of their choice of subjects or degrees can be advanced to the fourth year either for a Bachelor’s Degree (honours) or a Bachelor’s Degree (Honours with Research).

AWARD OF DEGREE

On successful completion of the course, candidates shall be awarded the Degree of Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) by Gauhati University.
